Gratitude - Day 195 - June 14, 2014

I was going to write that today was a mixed bag of good and not-so-good things, yet, as I think about, I realize there are way more good things than the other kind.

So first, the bad news:  They are breaking ground on building a new home on the lot next door.   When we moved into this house, we really liked that the lot next door was empty, had a small stand of tall trees, and gave our house some separation from neighbors and some open space to breath.  But today a bulldozer came and began to knock down those trees.   So not only will we lose our peaceful open space near us, but we'll have six or more months of construction noise and mess right next door.   Boo!

But in the good news category:

I had a great trip to the farmer's market for fresh peaches, blackberries, and a lot of other vegetables for dinners this week.

I got a lot of tasks around the house done, because in the morning I made a list of what I wanted to accomplish, and I was able to check off many of those items. Hooray for organization!

I spent over an hour at the neighborhood pool today, all on my own.  Not another person there.  Yay for swimming as much as I want, whenever I want, with no worries about being in the way of someone's laps, or being in the way of someone's kiddie time, or being splashed by random ten year old boys.

Hubbie and I had a great grilled burger for dinner, ate on the back porch in the breeze that was beginning to cool off as the evening went by.

Add to this the daily gratitude for health, family, financial security, and all our blessings related to our home and food on the table and so forth, it turns out that it was a really, really good day.  :-)

  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving your comments. That looks like a great Farmers market. I get the feeling that you are really "into" Christmas! I will look forward to seeing what you do this year. I do quite a bit of decorating in my little house.
