Welcome to the coziest room in the house!
Today I'd like to invite you into the small study just off the foyer, which we call "the piano room."
Come on in, have a snuggle into the couch, and put your feet up.
Here's a piece of pumpkin spice cake and a hot cup of coffee to enjoy while you're here. Don't mind the piano bench turned coffee table... it's lost its sturdiness, so it serves much better now as a place to rest your feet while you read.
This room serves two main purposes - as a music room and as a library. On the piano, I've put out the Christmas music, so go ahead and make yourself comfortable at the keyboard.
This bench serves double duty as a kitchen table bench when the leaf has been put in the table, but most of the time, it's a soft and pretty replacement bench for the old, old piano.
Across the top of the piano, we've got a few of our Jim Shore Santa figures, and a few other sweet touches too.
This Santa was a gift from my husband's parents, and I think he's pretty cute.
These two sweet birds joined the family last Christmas. This year, they're hanging out on the piano.
Behind the double doors from the foyer, the baker's rack has found a temporary home for the Christmas season. The Christmas tree took its normal place in the living room. On this rack, I've set out some simple pretty things that make me happy.
Most importantly, the hand-carved and hand-painted Santa figures made by my Dad. Since his passing last March, these treasures are all the more special to me.
Some simple pretty balls nestle in a basket of greens.
On the other side of the room is the "library" portion of the room. A double bookcase is filled with books on all topics, fiction and non-fiction. At Christmas time, I like to add Santa figures and photos to dress it up.
Across the top a vintage-looking Santa stands in a pinecone wonderland.
Here's a collage of just some of the hand-carved Santa figures that my dad made for me. I treasure each one.
This room is fairly small, but especially at this time of year, I love it! It's my favorite place to read.
And on this particular night, I enjoyed my cake and coffee with a few Christmas stories and views of the pretty Family Tree Christmas Tree in the foyer. It doesn't get much better than this!
Thank you for stopping by! Please take a moment to drop me a note in the comments. I hope you enjoy a wonderful Christmas season!
