A Tour of Our Yard - April 2014
Welcome to our yard! I'd like to start a new series on the blog, showing you what's happening in our flower and vegetable gardens in our new home.
Gratitude - Day 118
(posted a day late... again.)
Tuesdays are generally a great day around here, because I get to go to chorus rehearsal in my "small but mighty" Carolina Harmony Chorus.

Gratitude - Day 115-116
Yesterday's SAI Region 19 chorus competition was amazing and frustrating all at the same time. Our chorus was competing, and attempting to focus on our own performance while attempting to not lose focus about a fierce rivalry that we have with another group of singers (long story). It was a huge challenge personally to remain focused on the right thing.

Gratitude - Day 114
(posted a day late)
So, the quartet competition in Sweet Adelines Region 19 was absolutely awesome! I had so many proud moments watching so many friends and colleagues get up there on stage and do their thing!

Gratitude - Day 113
Tonight it would be easy to post - again - about how grateful I am for my Sweet Adelines friends and hobby. I mean, I'm here at our annual Regional convention and competition, and I'm seeing all the folks I've missed for the last year, and having a blast. And Yes, I'm so grateful for all of this. But this year, I'm here in another capacity for the first time - that of the coach of other quartets.

Grief Hits In the Strangest of Ways
When my dad died last month, it was awful. It was really hard. It was unexpected and crazy and maddening and horrible. No one expected it, and after the first stroke, there were weeks of hope and worry and struggle and mountains of joy and depths of despair. We thought and hoped that he would be able to make a recovery from the first, huge stroke. But it was not to be... he had two additional strokes two weeks later, and then two days after that, he passed away.
We all handle our grief in our own way... just as we are all individuals, so are the ways in which we grieve.

Gratitude - Day 104
Grateful today for warm weather and the opportunity to get out into the garden with a shovel and some new plants. I'm excited for the possibilities that this new garden brings, and I'm eager to get the dirt under the fingernails some more!
Gratitude - Day 100-103
