The Christmas Tree Farm

Last weekend before our son went back to college for the rest of the semester, we drove out into the country a little way to a Christmas Tree farm.

We hunted and hunted for just the right tree.

We played "Marco Polo" in the trees.

We looked for just the right tree to bring home to our family room - one with enough branches but not too many.

One with no big gaping holes in its brach structure. Not too tall, not too short, not to fat, not too skinny.

Finally we found one that was Just Right.

Our son and my husband took turns sawing the tree down.

We tied it to the top of the car nice and securely, and we brought it home to spend the rest of the Christmas season with us.

We placed it in the tree stand, and screwed the tree stand to a sturdy plywood base so it wouldn't fall over.  Added lots of water to keep it from drying out.

After stringing up 1501 lights, 25 large red bows, and hundreds of ornaments, "I give you the Griswold Harris family Christmas tree."

More details in another post to follow.

Merry Christmas!

  2. It's my favourite time of year when we go to the tree farm to pick out our tree. It's been a tradition of ours since we got married 4 years ago! Pretty pictures, thanks for sharing!
